Silver Sword of Haleakala
(Argyroxiphium sandwicense)
 At one time this beautiful silvery, hairy leaf plant grew in such abundance on the slopes of Mount Haleakala that it looked like the landscape was wrapped in moonlight.  It is now on the verge of extinction.
