HAWAIIAN STYLE QUILTS® HAWAIIAN NENE
The Nene (Hawaiian Goose) became Hawaii's State Bird in 1957 after they were nearly wiped out by hunters. An aggressive action started by breeding the birds in captivity in hopes to put them back into their natural habitats. They are still on the Federal Endangered Species list.
